Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Smiths Detection Inc.

Approved: August 13, 2013 | Expires: September 30, 2016

Smiths Detection, Inc. provides eqo™ (the “Technology”). The Technology is a flat-panel millimeter-wave body-imaging scanner used for detecting hidden objects under clothing at security checkpoints. The Technology also includes maintenance and training services, technical documents and manuals, associated software, lifecycle support, quality control, quality assurance, and a warrantee program.


L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc.

Approved: August 05, 2013 | Expires: October 31, 2016

L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc. provides Security X-ray Inspection and Screening System (the “Technology”). The Technology is an x-ray inspection and screening system which detects threat objects, including explosives, weapons, narcotics, and other contraband in baggage and packages. The Technology also includes installation, maintenance, customer service and support, and technical documents.


Queens Ballpark Company, L.L.C.

Approved: July 11, 2013 | Expires: August 31, 2018

Queens Ballpark Company, LLC, a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of Sterling Mets, L.P, and other listed Sellers, provide the Citi Field Security Program (the “Technology”). The Technology is an integrated security program composed of physical and electronic security measures, tools, procedures and personnel designed to detect, deter, prevent, respond to, and mitigate Acts of Terrorism at Citi Field during Major League Baseball Game Days, Non-Game Days (In-Season), Non-Season Days, and Special Events. The Technology includes 24/7 security coverage and incorporates systems and security practices as well as the selection and maintenance of electronic security measures and the hiring, vetting, training, and management oversight of its employees and contractors.


Raytheon Company and Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC

Approved: June 11, 2013 | Expires: June 30, 2018

Raytheon Company and its wholly owned subsidiary, Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC provide Criminal Information Sharing Services. The Technology is a set of systems engineering and integration services used to aid in the creation of a secure network system that enables law enforcement agencies to share cross jurisdictional information to provide assistance in the prevention or investigation of Acts of Terrorism. The Technology also includes a number of components which assist in the design and construction of an environment allowing for information sharing, integration of existing information into the collaborative environment, and migration of existing systems into an architecture that will enhance sharing of criminal or terrorist information.


FJC SECURITY SERVICES, INC.

Approved: March 08, 2013 | Expires: March 31, 2018

FJC Security Services, Inc. provides FJC Physical Security Services. The Technology is physical security services comprised of multi-disciplined security guard forces consisting of both armed and unarmed security personnel who deliver security services to private and government facilities. The Technology also includes support services and supporting documentation.


Hope Pharmaceuticals

Approved: January 14, 2013 | Expires: January 31, 2018

Hope Medical Enterprises, Inc. (d/b/a Hope Pharmaceuticals), provides Sodium Nitrite Injection, Sodium Thiosulfate Injection, and Nithiodote™. The Technology is a co-packaged kit of Sodium Nitrite Injection and Sodium Thiosulfate Injection, for use in accordance with U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved dosages and means of administration for the treatment of acute cyanide poisoning judged to be life-threatening. The Technology also includes instructions for administering the Technology, package inserts, and all technical documents associated with the Technology.


Microsemi Corporation

Microsemi Corp. – RF Integrated Solutions provides BIS-WDS™ (Brijot Imaging Systems Weapons Detection System) (the "Technology"). The Technology is a concealed threat detection system consisting of two models, the Prime 1603 and GEN2 (and GEN 2A). Both versions of the BIS-WDS™ use passive millimeter wave technology to identify concealed weapons. The Technology is capable of detecting concealed objects on a subject as they walk and performs best under specific environmental conditions outlined in the unit’s specifications. The Technology also includes warranty services, technical documentation, maintenance, and spare parts available from the manufacturer.


JAS Forwarding (USA), Inc.

JAS Forwarding (USA), Inc. provides Certified Cargo Screening Facilities (the "Technology"). The Technology, Certified Cargo Screening Facilities, is designed to aid in meeting the congressional mandate that 100 percent of cargo placed on passenger airplanes be screened. The Technology includes, and provides, screeners and programmatic personnel for the screening of cargo in accordance with the Transportation Security Administration’s (“TSA’s”) Certified Cargo Screening Program at TSA-approved Certified Cargo Screening Facilities.


Chemring Detection Systems, Inc.

Approved: October 01, 2012 | Expires: October 31, 2015

Chemring Detection Systems, Inc. provides JUNO® (the "Technology"). The Technology is a hand-held vapor detector designed to detect various Toxic Industrial Chemicals, Chemical Warfare Agents, and other potential threats. The Technology also includes optional training and a user’s manual
