Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. Analogic Corporation: Carry-On Baggage Real-Time Assessment (COBRA) Approved: December 03, 2008 \| Expires: January 31, 2014 Analogic Corporation provides the Carry-On Baggage Real-Time Assessment (COBRA), an automated explosives and weapons detection system for the screening of carry-on items at screening checkpoints. The Technology uses volumetric Computer Tomography (CT)-based Xrays and detection algorithms to scan evaluate objects and detects a variety of threats, and displays high-resolution, 3-D bag images for on-screen resolution.

Physical Security Services. The Technology is a set of services meant to deter, prevent, detect, alert, and respond to a variety of security threats. The Technology is provided to a variety of sectors including: commercial real estate, public utilities, and financial institutions. It consists of the following: Project Management, a wide array of Security Services, and Consulting Services. The Technology also includes the processes to recruit, train, and retain qualified candidates to implement the Technology.
Reveal Imaging Technologies, Inc.: CT-80XL EDS Approved: September 18, 2008 \| Expires: October 31, 2013 Reveal Imaging Technologies, Inc. provides the CT-80XL EDS. The Technology is used to move loaded baggage by way of a conveyor belt into a tunnel where it is scanned for explosives by a computed tomography (CT) array. The scanning process consists of several stages: ToTALScan, Static CT Slice, X-ray Scan, SnapScan, and Targeted Zoom. This Technology is a variant of an existing SAFETY Act covered device modified to work with larger objects.
Securitas Holdings, Inc., Protective Services Approved: September 18, 2008 \| Expires: October 31, 2013 Securitas Holdings, Inc., provides Protective Services. The Technology is a regiment for protection professionals in threat assessment and protective skills training. It is designed to investigate and assess a Principal’s risk and vulnerability, and develop and implement a strategy that would enhance the Principal’s overall security. The three major components of the Technology are: Assessment of threats, Development of a security plan, and Protection duties.
Smiths Detection, Inc.: IONSCAN 400B Approved: September 04, 2008 \| Expires: October 31, 2013 Smiths Detection, Inc. provides the IONSCAN 400B. The Technology is a desktop explosive and narcotics trace detection system. Samples are collected by wiping the surface of a material or object with a swab. The swab is then analyzed by the Technology, and if a substance of interest is detected, the software triggers and alarm to alert the operator. The Technology also includes a manufacturer’s warranty, operator’s manual, and operator and technical training.

The Technology is a set of services pertaining to several systems meant to deter, prevent, detect, alert, and respond to a variety of security and life safety threats. These systems include: fire alarm and detection systems, fire suppression systems, closed caption television (CCTV), and mass notification systems. The services include but are not limited to: project management, site survey and needs assessment, and systems integration services. Hiring and training of the personnel who perform the services, training of the customer, and all related documentation is also included in the Technology.
American Science and Engineering, Inc. : X-Ray Inspection Systems Approved: July 08, 2008 \| Expires: March 31, 2012 American Science and Engineering, Inc. provides X-Ray Inspection Systems. The Technology is a set of devices that utilize the same core principles to inspect objects for possible terrorist threats. There are two major lines of devices: the ParcelSearch systems, which are used to scan packages and the mobile systems which, are used to scan cargo and vehicles. The Technology also includes: installation, maintenance, training, warranty, spare parts, technical documentation, and all qualified personnel.
Protex Technologies, Inc.: Explosafe® Suppression System Approved: June 20, 2008 \| Expires: July 31, 2013 Protex Technologies, Inc. provides the Explosafe® Suppression System. The Technology is an aluminum mesh designed to be installed in fuel tanks or enclosed containers of flammable liquids or gases. Should one of these containers come under attack via explosives, ballistic projectiles, or low energy threats such as gunfire and electrical discharge, the Technology would prevent or reduce the effects of the explosion of such containers.
Sealock Security Systems, Inc.: Sealock Hybrid Devices Approved: June 12, 2008 \| Expires: July 31, 2013 Sealock Security Systems, Inc. provides the Sealock Hybrid Devices. The Technology is a device that provides both the function of seal and lock for cargo containers. With the Technology in place on the cargo container’s door mechanism, any tampering with the mechanism will be noticeable upon inspection. There are three models: Single Use Sealock, Keeper Sealock, and Sealock Junior. All three are C-TPAT compliant.
