Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. OSI Systems Inc. and Rapiscan Systems, Inc. provides Rapiscan Conventional X-ray Systems. The Technology consists of units in the 500 and 600 Model Lines (515, 520B, 522B, 618XR, 620DV, 620XR, 622XR, 624XR, 626XR, 627DV, 627XR, 628DV, 628XR, 632DV, 632XR, 636SV, 638DV, and 638XR). The non intrusive systems use ionizing radiation, software, and hardware to produce density based images for the operator in which shapes and material types are outlined and is designed to be effective against incendiary weapons or explosive devices. The Technology also includes operation and maintenance training, system installation and integration, preventative maintenance, warranty services, manuals, image interpretation aids, peripherals, and upgrades.

Rapiscan Systems, Inc., provides MVXR5000. The Technology is a non-intrusive X-ray-based device used to screen parcels, cargo, and/or baggage for the potential presence of explosive threats. The Technology includes: installation, integration, and maintenance services (including preventative maintenance as well as out-of-warranty service and repairs); training regarding technical use of the Technology; the qualifications of the personnel used for providing Technology-related services; spare parts; image interpretation aids; additional software (including threat image projection (TIP)); network management systems; management information systems; operator workstations; operator and technical manuals; and a warranty.

Rapiscan Systems Inc. provides the Cargo and Vehicle Inspection Systems (CVIS). The Technology is designed to scan vehicles and cargo with a radiation source and produce an image of the interior that would help personnel monitor what goes into and out of an area. There are two lines, Eagle and GaRDS, which use X-ray radiation and Gamma-ray radiation respectively. Both lines can be deployed in multiple configurations. The Technology also includes installation, training (operation, maintenance and safety), manuals, maintenance, and warranty services.

Rapiscan Systems, Inc., provides the Secure 1000®, a non-intrusive personnel screening system designed to detect both metallic and nonmetallic objects (such as ceramic, plastic, metallic, and organic matter, including liquid and solid explosives) concealed under a person's clothing.

Rapiscan Systems, Inc. provides Metal Detection Systems. The Metal Detection Systems include hand-held and walk-through metal detectors that can be used to detect metal objects.
