Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Rapiscan Systems, Inc., provides MVXR5000. The Technology is a non-intrusive X-ray-based device used to screen parcels, cargo, and/or baggage for the potential presence of explosive threats. The Technology includes: installation, integration, and maintenance services (including preventative maintenance as well as out-of-warranty service and repairs); training regarding technical use of the Technology; the qualifications of the personnel used for providing Technology-related services; spare parts; image interpretation aids; additional software (including threat image projection (TIP)); network management systems; management information systems; operator workstations; operator and technical manuals; and a warranty.


Rapiscan Systems, Inc.: Secure 1000®

Approved: December 18, 2006 | Expires: December 31, 2011

Rapiscan Systems, Inc., provides the Secure 1000®, a non-intrusive personnel screening system designed to detect both metallic and nonmetallic objects (such as ceramic, plastic, metallic, and organic matter, including liquid and solid explosives) concealed under a person's clothing.

Rapiscan Systems, Inc. provides Metal Detection Systems. The Metal Detection Systems include hand-held and walk-through metal detectors that can be used to detect metal objects.
