Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Approved: February 26, 2015 | Expires: March 31, 2020

Raytheon Company provides Controlled Impact Rescue Tool (the “Technology”). The Technology is a tool that is designed for use by Urban Search and Rescue teams during rescue operations where people become trapped under rubble. It uses multiple blank ammunition cartridges to drive a specially designed impact head that applies a concentrated shock load into concrete barriers. Successive impacts pulverize the concrete locally, making it easier to remove enough concrete to create a man-size hole through a wall.
