Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. Rapiscan Systems, Inc. provides Itemiser®2, Itemiser®3, and Itemiser®DX. The Technology consists of three portable, lightweight, desktop trace detectors that detect microscopic particles of a broad range of explosives on clothing, luggage, or other surfaces that may have contacted explosives. The Technology also includes user manuals and the procedures defined therein.

SAFRAN USA, Inc. and GE Homeland Protection, Inc. (f/k/a GE Invision, Inc.) provide the Itemiser2, Itemiser3, Itemiser FX, and Itemiser DX, which are portable, lightweight, desktop trace detectors that enable the detection of microscopic particles of a broad range of explosives that remain on clothing, luggage, ID cards, or any other targeted surface in which explosives might be handled. The Technology also includes training and maintenance services.
