Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

ASIS International provides ASIS International Certification, a certification process for security personnel, including Certified Protection Professionals, Professional Certified Investigators, and Physical Security Professionals.


Lockheed Martin Corporation: Security System Engineering Process

Approved: July 10, 2006 | Expires: June 30, 2011

The Lockheed Martin Corporation provides their Security System Engineering Process, a suite of services to design, develop, install, and support a “turnkey” integrated security system that can assist the customer in addressing identified vulnerabilities and to protect critical infrastructure.


Cangene: Vaccinia Immune Globulin Intravenous (Human) (VIG)

Approved: June 29, 2006 | Expires: June 30, 2011

Cangene provides Vaccinia Immune Globulin Intravenous (Human) (VIG), a sterile antibody product that can be used for the treatment of adverse reactions to the smallpox vaccine.  VIG could also be used on a voluntary basis, in the event of an Act of Terrorism, for other uses relating to exposure to the smallpox virus.


Unisys: Registered Traveler Solution

Approved: June 29, 2006 | Expires: April 30, 2011

Unisys provides Registered Traveler Solution, a biometric identification system comprised of hardware, software, and enrollment services.  Unisys supports these biometric identification systems with project management, installation, and integration services for both mobile and fixed biometric enrollment centers and checkpoints.


Lockheed Martin Corporation: Systems Engineering and Integration Services for the Integrated Electronic Security Command/ Control/ Communications System.

Lockheed Martin Corporation provides Systems Engineering and Integration Services for the Integrated Electronic Security Command/ Control/ Communications System. The Systems Engineering and Integration Services (SE&IS) for the Integrated Electronic Security Command/ Control/ Communications System (IESS/C3) is a set of standard methodologies and processes that are used to design, develop, install, test, train users, deploy, and maintain the IESS/C3 early warning and detection system.


Washington Group International, Inc.: Threat and Vulnerability Assessment and Risk Mitigation Services

Approved: June 02, 2006 | Expires: May 31, 2011

Washington Group International, Inc., provides Threat and Vulnerability Assessment and Risk Mitigation Services for the protection of public and commercial infrastructure from acts of terrorism. These services provide recommendations on the vulnerabilities of infrastructure and ways to mitigate threats through engineering and technical support services.


Alluviam, LLC: HazMasterG3®

Approved: May 17, 2006 | Expires: May 31, 2011

Alluviam, LLC, provides the HazMasterG3®, a decision-support software suite for use on many cell phones, personal data assistants, or laptop computers. Based on user input, the software provides planning or response support to first responders for many chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) threats.


CEIA USA Ltd.: Security Metal Detection Equipment

Approved: May 17, 2006 | Expires: March 31, 2011

CEIA USA Ltd. provides Security Metal Detection Equipment. This product line includes PD-140 series hand-held metal detectors, walk-through metal detectors, and MIL D1 and MIL D1/DS series de-mining equipment. Also included are installation and site acceptance testing.


Pitney Bowes, Inc.: Biohazard Isolation and Screening System (BISS)

Pitney Bowes, Inc., provides the Biohazard Isolation and Screening System (BISS). The BISS can be used to isolate incoming mail into bagged batches and extract air samples from the bags. Each air sample is passed through a filter which is then sealed in a container and made available for analysis.


FP Technologies, Inc.: VIGILAIR™ Bio-defense System

FP Technologies, Inc., provides the VIGILAIR™ Bio-defense System, an air handler protection unit that is installed inside a building’s air handler to help protect a building’s ventilation system from a potential biological weapons attack.
